Élégie's Enigma

Élégie is an AI driven multimedia performance that blends immersive audio and visuals with live aerial cello to tell the story of a mystical, shape-shifting blackbird who awakens to find the citizens of the city she overlooks, have vanished. As she attempts to discover the reasons behind the disappearance, she unravels the secrets that haunt the city and begins to decipher the realities of the citizens' disappearance. The story explores themes of identify, memory, and the ethical entanglements of emerging technologies.

The project was initially developed by Cellista and modified into an immersive AI driven performance by Monica Bolles during an ATLAS B2 Residency at the end of 2024. Visuals were created by Jennifer Gigantino.
